What problem does this solve?

Calculate a fixed monthly payment and amortization schedule for a constant nominal annual interest rate.

Step by step in ViBytes Tools

  1. Enter the principal, nominal annual rate and number of monthly payments.
  2. Calculate to see payment, totals and outstanding balance.
  3. Page through the schedule; change inputs to calculate again.

Worked example and how to check it

Input: Principal 1200, nominal annual rate 0%, twelve payments.

Expected result: Twelve payments of 100; interest 0; final balance 0.

Common mistakes and decisions

The modeled payment includes principal and interest, not insurance or outside charges. The schedule shows how each payment reduces the balance. Rounding to cents can change the last payment; check that the final balance is zero and sum payments to verify the total.

Limits before you continue

  • The nominal rate is not the total cost of credit. Insurance, fees and taxes are excluded.
  • Accounting uses cents and adjusts the final payment to close the balance. Up to 600 monthly payments, with amount and rate limits.

Frequently asked question

Is this a bank offer or an APR calculation?

No. It uses your nominal annual rate and excludes unspecified costs. It does not retrieve current rates or replace a contractual quotation.
