Remove EXIF and GPS metadata
Create a PNG copy without retaining EXIF, GPS or embedded text. Check output chunks while keeping the original image unchanged.
Static JPG, PNG and WebP: 5 MiB, 8 MP, 4096 px per side. PNG output up to 20 MiB. The original is unchanged; color and profiles may vary. Animations are not preserved.
The PNG copy is checked for EXIF and text/XMP chunks. It does not remove visible information in pixels or guarantee anonymity.
What this tool does
Prepare a shareable copy when the original contains camera details, dates or location. Pixels are decoded and encoded into a new PNG; the file is not merely renamed.
How to use it
- Load a static JPG, PNG or WebP.
- Create the copy; the engine checks that EXIF and text chunks are absent from the PNG.
- Download the PNG and review visible information before sharing it.
Verifiable example
- Input
- JPEG with EXIF/GPS and orientation.
- Expected result
- An oriented PNG with the same visual dimensions and no original EXIF/text chunks.
Limitations to review
- 5 MiB, 8 MP and 4096 px per side; output up to 20 MiB. File size may increase.
- Does not guarantee anonymity: faces, plates, visible text, download names and system traces are not forensically erased.
