Open Remove EXIF and GPS metadata

What it does

Prepare a shareable copy when the original contains camera details, dates or location. Pixels are decoded and encoded into a new PNG; the file is not merely renamed.

When to use it

Use this workflow when the example below matches your task and the documented limits fit your input. Keep the original and review the output before sharing it.

Steps

  1. Load a static JPG, PNG or WebP.
  2. Create the copy; the engine checks that EXIF and text chunks are absent from the PNG.
  3. Download the PNG and review visible information before sharing it.

Worked example

JPEG with EXIF/GPS and orientation.

An oriented PNG with the same visual dimensions and no original EXIF/text chunks.

Common mistakes and limitations

  • 5 MiB, 8 MP and 4096 px per side; output up to 20 MiB. File size may increase.
  • Does not guarantee anonymity: faces, plates, visible text, download names and system traces are not forensically erased.

Frequently asked questions

Is my input uploaded?

No. Processing runs in your browser. Visiting the site downloads public software and resources; this tool does not automatically save your input or results.

How do I check the result?

Start with the worked example, compare the output and use synthetic data before processing sensitive information. Downloaded files should be opened in an independent reader.
