Compress images

Compare file sizes when re-encoding images with quality controls.

One image per job, up to 5 MiB, 8 megapixels and 4096 px per side; output up to 20 MiB. Static JPG, PNG and WebP only. Animations are not supported. EXIF orientation is applied; original EXIF metadata is not copied. The format must be supported by your browser. Images are neither uploaded nor saved; processing downloads software resources.

Options

JPEG and WebP use lossy encoding; quality is not a percentage saving.

What this tool does

Re-encode an image and compare actual byte counts to report savings or growth.

How to use it

  1. Load an image and choose a supported output format.
  2. Adjust JPEG/WebP quality; PNG does not use this quality control.
  3. Process and compare original and output sizes before downloading.

Verifiable example

Input
Original file 1000 bytes; output 800 bytes.
Expected result
200 bytes saved, or 20%. A larger output is reported as growth.

Limitations to review

  • A smaller output is not guaranteed. An already optimized PNG may grow when re-exported.
  • Lower JPEG/WebP quality is lossy, not lossless compression. Browser format support and image quotas apply.
