Extract text from digital PDF

What this tool does

Recover digital content for reference or text reuse. A scan may have no text; columns and tables may not retain visual reading order.

When to use it

Use Extract text from digital PDF when you need the specific operation described here and can check the result against your own source. Keep the original and work on a copy.

Steps

  1. Load a digital PDF and select pages.
  2. Convert and review line breaks and characters.
  3. Copy or download TXT; if no text appears, check whether the source was a scan.

Worked example

Input: Two-page PDF with Hello and Goodbye; select 2.

Expected result: TXT contains Goodbye and excludes page one.

Common mistakes

  • PDF 5 MiB/50 pages; output up to 500,000 characters.
  • This is not OCR. Reading order, spacing and characters depend on original encoding and fonts.

If an error appears, reduce the input or correct the specified field. Do not treat an unsuccessful operation as a valid result. Repeat the example with synthetic data to separate an input problem from a tool problem.

Limitations and privacy

Inputs are processed in your browser. Visiting the site downloads its resources, but the tool does not upload the document or text. Results are not automatically stored. Check downloaded files before using them in a workflow.

Editing a PDF may invalidate digital signatures and does not sanitize its active content. This guide does not promise preservation of every form, attachment or advanced document feature.
